The coastal maritime department has set up points in inland areas that are not coastal or along the Yangtze River (Yangtze River) to provide services, which is the first time in China. This working group, dispatched by the Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration, will be stationed in Yiwu, known as the "Sixth Port Area" of Ningbo Zhoushan Port. With a focus on new energy vehicles, it will provide "one-stop" on-site services. This will achieve the full process of Yiwu's sea export vehicles being loaded onto the ship at the port without changing boxes, opening boxes, and one box to the end, effectively reducing logistics costs.

 

Yiwu City, located inland, has a relatively long logistics time for automobile and sea transportation exports. After the first cargo collection of new energy vehicles in Yiwu, they need to be transported by railway, road and other transportation methods to the port area of Ningbo to complete the secondary cargo collection. During the process, they also need to be transported by trailer to the dedicated container yard for new energy vehicles for loading, and then undergo a series of business processes such as declaration and inspection before they can be officially loaded onto the ship and shipped out of the port.

 

"Previously, when exporting second-hand cars, it was necessary to send them to the second-hand car trading market in Ningbo for transfer and registration through 4S stores, and then transport them to the storage yard in Meishan Port Area of Zhoushan Port in Ningbo. After the shipping schedule was determined, they would be transported from the storage yard to the operating dock for loading, which took a relatively long time." At the work group's license plate hanging site, Sun Zhengfei, the general manager of Yiwu Leda Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., said that the maritime department has now moved maritime services to Yiwu, greatly reducing the time cycle. This is a good measure for enterprises to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Each vehicle can save about a thousand yuan in transportation, venue, and labor costs, and the time can be shortened to two days.

 

"It is equivalent to moving the container loading and maritime inspection processes that used to be required for new energy vehicles to be transported to Ningbo Zhoushan Port to Yiwu, and merging and synchronously carrying out these processes. This reduces the three logistics stages of multimodal transportation for automobile exports, and achieves that goods entering Yiwu's' waterless port 'are considered as entering Ningbo Zhoushan Port," said a staff member of the Zhejiang Maritime Department.

 

The export of new energy vehicles and used cars is one of the new hotspots in Yiwu's foreign trade. Since the establishment of the Second Hand Car Export Service Zone in Yiwu in July 2023, as of March 2024, approximately 1600 cars have been exported; It is expected that the export of automobiles will exceed 10000 units throughout 2024.
