The YWCA of Greater Cincinnati said it has received a $250,000 gift from the estate of former board member Eva Jane Romaine Coombe.
The donation will be used to establish an endowment for the YWCA’s GED/Literacy Program, according to a news release. The YWCA also will begin an annual award in Coombe’s name to benefit program participants.
Coombe served on the YWCA’s board from 1994-2000, including the nominating committee and program evaluation committee, and had a special interest in literacy programs, according to the release.
The YWCA, based downtown, offers programs that empower women and their families and operates a shelter for victims of abuse.
