BEIJING, China - China's trade growth slowed further in June as its economy cooled, and the country's global trade surplus widened to $22.2 billion.
Customs data Sunday showed import growth slowed sharply, falling to 19.3 per cent over a year ago from May's 28.4 per cent. Export growth also declined, though the customs agency said total exports hit a new monthly record.
China's rapid trade growth has eased in recent months as global demand was hurt by Europe's debt crisis and a sluggish U.S. economy. Beijing also is trying to rein in the rapid growth of its own economy, which has cooled Chinese demand for imports.
